Undertone....Remember this Word!

The first critical step to getting your color match done correctly is determining your Undertone. The 3 classifications of undertones are: Warm, Cool, and Neutral.

Warm undertones, will give your skin a peachy, yellow, or golden glow, whereas if you have cool undertones then your skin will show pink, red, or blue. Lastly, neutral undertones, will have a mixture of these colors.

As the name “Undertone” implies these colors are more subtle and a range of colors can be present to create the overall tone.

At Mi Color, we are the experts at navigating this process for you using some  little tricks we have up our sleeves along with some information from you about your lifestyle & fashion preferences we can guide you to the optimal hair color to suit your skin tone.

5 questions to ask to help determine warm and cool skin.

1. What Color are Your Veins?

Do the veins on the inside of your wrists appear blue or green? Blue or purple indicates you are cool-toned. Green means you are warm-toned. If you cannot see either of these colors then you are most likely what is termed lean neutral.

2. What Colors Do You Look Best In?

Is there certain colors that you look better in and perhaps get complimented on more? If these are blues, purples, and emerald-greens then you are cool-toned. If you “You look Fab!” Colors are reds, oranges, yellows, and olive-greens then step on up- you are warm toned! If you can look good in anything then congratulations...  you have won neutral undertones lottery!

3. Gold or Silver?

When it is time to put the icing on the cake what are your favorite pieces of jewelry. Golds or Silver? If gold, you're warm-toned. If silver, cool-toned. Again, if you look good in both your are in the Neutral Undertone winners circle!

4. Do You Burn or Tan?

When you burn under light bulb or turn pink, you are in the cool-toned camp. If you get the lovely natural tan, you're warm-toned and still need to look after your skin!

5. What are Your Eye and Hair Colors?

Step up to the cool tones stage if you have blue, grey, or green eyes with blonde, brown, or black hair with platinum tones. Warm tones will be you if you have brown, amber, or hazel eyes with strawberry blonde, auburn, or black hair that has gold tones.
